Critters in the garden

It is safe to say that Barnstable businesses experienced a collective sigh of relief this past weekend. The tourists are back! The bridges were jammed. The parking lots were full and no one got shot. We might just have a good summer after all.

Bugsy used the occasion hide out in the garden...

enjoying the scenery...

with his friends...

dreaming...

conspiring...

praying...

for a piece of...

barbecue.

Enjoy the season!!!

Eric, Jason and Gus were talking about Barnstable leaders wanting THREE OVERRIDES on the ballot, let`s put an UNDERRIDE on the Ballot for the amount of their three overrides.

Some people never learn. Ciolek was in the news this week selling his $33,000 sewer plan.

That's $33,000 per man, woman, and child. That's the cost of paving over the Cape.

There are little things like tomato sandwiches and taking the dog to the beach that give us some of life’s simple pleasure this time of the year. It’s easy to get caught up with “more important” things, and put off enjoying the little things around us. Just remember, summer, like life, is short. Put on the flip flops and enjoy...

Believe it or not, I think I'll try that Topsy Turvy Tomato Planter this year.

Take a ride down to Veteran's Park in Hyannis.  As you drive in take a look at the field immediately to your right. That field used to be a baseball field/soccer field and there was even a set of basketball hoops there at one time.  Back in the 60's there was a pick up baseball game EVERY day from the time school let out until Labor Day.  This is a million dollar piece of property owned by the Town of Barnstable.  Today it is a basically a private parking lot for the members of the Hyannis Yacht Club.  You'll see a sign that says, "no trailers"  My bet is that there will be trailers present, trailers owned by the members of HYC.

The Hyannis Yacht Club has a piece of property a block up Ocean Street that can be used for members parking but is little used because maybe a block is too far for members to walk, especially after a few drinks.

This is town property that is being "allowed" to be used at no cost by the members of the HYC.  Yes, they did pay some money to the town for use of the lot during the winter as they went through renovations, but every winter all the floating docks are stored in the parking lot and no fee is charged by the town for this.  If they are going to continue to do this then every dock and mooring owner should get free winter storage at a town beach lot.  The yacht club does maintain the lot with crushedshells and nice signs but I would prefer it be used for recreation soccer/baseball etc.

If town leaders are serious about cleaning up crime in Hyannis, they need to create avenues for healthy recreational activities to reduce interest in drugs.  The rec center is fantastic, but we need more outdoor areas to skate, bike, play ball, etc....

It makes no sense for the town to buy up all kinds of land with OUR tax dollars, and not find ways to put the land to use for US.  Let's start looking into all the town owned land in Hyannis, for starters, and see how we can provide services for US and OUR KIDS by using land that WE paid for!

Would someone please inform me as to what rights taxpayers have to "town owned land" purchased by the taxpayers?  Can we petition to turn that yacht club lot back into a spot for local pick up games of basket and baseball?  The sailors have used it long enough.

Barnstable owns the Kmart plaza, but another company managers this plaza and COLLECTS about 10-MILLION DOLLARS IN LEASE REVENUES from the Barnstables TAXPAYERS Kmart Plaza EVERY YEAR. Guess how much the town of Barnstable recieves from this 10-MILLION DOLLARS of LEASE REVENUES EVERY-YEAR! "ZERO DOLLARS" GREAT TOWN UGH, aren`t you proud of the town of Barnstable`s leadership THEY GIVE YOUR TAX DOLLARS AWAY, and then they want you to vote for OVER-RIDES so they can spend more of your TAX DOLLARS FOOLISHLY.

Did you see this: Effort under way to oust town manager

The town council is scheduled o meet in executive session June 23 for the second time in two weeks for “contract negotiations non-union employees – Town Manager John C. Klimm,” according to the published agenda.

No councilor would speak on the record about what is transpiring behind closed doors, but it appears that a near-majority of the 13-member board wants a new top administrator for Barnstable.

“It’s obvious that there have been discussions about my contract,” Klimm told the Patriot June 20. “They are ongoing.”

There is an executive session tonight to discuss the town manager's contract. No matter how they try, there seems to be no way the "Crocker Six" can break through to any seventh and thus pivotal councilor's vote. A flamboyant walkout would seem their only move. All the "Centerville Seven" have to do is keep holding together.

I held some talk that "one of them" flipped, but it may be wishful thinking. If Crocker's gang of six does not succeed now, they will soon find themselves as a gang of 4 or 5. The elections will not be kind to them.

The question of the day is who allegedly flipped to Crocker's side and the options are very limited The Centerville three Chirigotis, Rugo and Joakim all support John Klimm 100% so it is unlikely it is one of those three. That leaves Barton, Barry, Dagwan and Tinsley and of these four I can't see Barry or Barton flipping. This leaves Dagwan and Tinsley as the most likely flipped votes.

Aside from the executive session there is also going to be a public discussion of John Klimm's contract. The contract is to be voted on as item 2012-001 and public comment will be taken before the council debates and votes on the contract.

Also two local radio stations, WXTK and WQRC are reporting this morning that John Klimm's conctract is going to be bought out for between $225,000 to $250,000

There's talk Klimm would consider a 7-6 victory a vote of no confidence. There may or may not be an inflated turnout of backers tonight to show support. Why does every political development in this town seem to reek of desperation?

bugsy said...

There's also talk that he made more than enough off the water company deal to retire in style. I think he'll fight to a last nail. He's too well paid to walk on principal.

There is also talk that Jimmy Crocker may lose Hank Farnham's vote giving John Klimm a victory of 8-5.

What ever happens it's gonna be a interesting night in town hall. Heck the weather is creating the perfect backdrop for tonight.

The town council president said: The town is in good financial position with its AAA Bond Rating. I would ask the town council president, Why is there talk from some town councilors about having 3- 2.5 Over-Rides put on a Ballot. LIES LIES and MORE LIES from this ADMINISTRATION

FYI said...

By a vote of 6-5 with 2 councilors absent John Klimm's contract was bought out for a reported $240,000
