Reportedly, efforts are under way to promote a large turnout of residents to ask questions about and comment on the offer to "buy-out" the Town Manager's contract. A group which calls itself the Barnstable Coalition for Fair Government sprearheaded by former school committee chairman Ralph Cahoon is encouraging citizens to turn out.
According to their Barnstable Deserves Better Facebook page:
Let's make sure our Town Council knows we're fed up with its embarrassing behavior. It's time for the Barnstable Circus to end - no more clowning around!See: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Barnstable-Deserves-Better/214684871900716
On July 14th we are asking residents to show up at Town Hall & speak up (if you like), or if you can't be there to send an email or make a phone call. We need to our elected leaders know we've all had enough. Please "share" this information with your friends!

With all the talk about "galvanization" and the "tremendous outpouring of alarm and concern by citizens all over Town," I'm starting to wonder just how many Klimm-boobs will show up to voice their support for higher taxes, unrelenting fee increases, poor roads, and an unaffordable sewer program.
John Klimm seems to have forgotten that 80% of town residents voted against his over-ride requests in November. Four out of every five residents do not support John Klimm's priorities.
Commenting on Klimm's change of venue, oldies but oldies wrote:
The next council meeting has been moved to BHS. Apparently BCfFG will be bringing in a lot of Klimm supporters. This is almost as exciting as the news Bob "Status Quo" Jones will be running in 13. Now there are two Klimm supporters running there. Maybe it's time to recycle Gary Brown as well.I doubt that any show of support - no matter how grand - will dissuade the Crocker Six. They are committed. I'm just wondering, if my town councilor, Jim Munafo, can finish what he started. Remember, Munafo was to first to publicly call for the town council president and the town manager to resign.
See: Munafo drops his gauntlet. No one notices.
Well, now Munafo has everyone's full attention. Let's see what he can do with it.
As I understand it, John Klimm is under no obligation to "accept" the offer to buy-out his contract. Furthermore, in a letter from his attorney, John Klimm threatened to sue anyone who questioned his job performance.
That alone, should be reason enough for a second spanking.

Three strikes and you're out, Mr. Atsalis. Surely, the Mid-Cape area can field a qualified challenger to the veteran legislator, who has been flouting campaign finance laws for too long.See: Atsalis asleep at the wheel

The most frightening thing about the Coalition is their capacity for righteous self-delusion. They apparently really believe they are striking a blow for fair play, open process, blahblahblah. Cut to a videotape of Joakim and Rugo shouting "Move the question! Point of order!" For years their faction has had a stranglehold on the council, its agendas, and its committees. Its obsessive need for total micromanaged control is what provoked this insurgency in the first place. Why the hell didn't they throw a watered-down, staged, and predetermined "investigation\inquiry" to their minority colleagues? Answer- anything less than 100% dominance is always unacceptable to whatever gang of thugs happens to rule the council. Expect nothing less from the Crocker bunch should they prevail. One doesn't need to side with Farnham to recommend his Patriot column this week for an interesting perspective. Scorpions fighting in a jar may be fascinating, but one hardly cares who "wins".
Hanks view:
I understand that you want to know what is going on in Barnstable. I will use this column to briefly comment on the town council’s negotiated settlement with the town manager, John Klimm. I’ll also present a summary of some key issues that transpired causing a rift between some councilors. We are restricted in what we can say about contract negotiations with the town manager. His attorney has instructed us to direct any communications about that directly to him.

If you go on their facebook site and say something bad about klimm, can they get your facebook account and file a law suit against you?
I do not have a facebook account, for those who do "BE CAREFUL".
Fred:
Look, as far as anyone being sued for anything, the only reason anyone can sue anyone is if people are slandering or writing things about people that are not true. As for me, I have been critical over Klimm now for years. Do I hate this man? No. Do I disrespect him? Yes. Di I think he is a disgrace as a supposed TOWN MANAGER? Yes, he is putrid as a person who is supposed to be running this town. In my opinion, he gets a D minue for his performance of wasting millions of our tax dollars. The council is, in my opinion, also equally guilty of doing a pitiful job of running this town and wasting millions of dollars of taxpayer money. Quite honestly I think they should all resign!
There now, if I jumped onto their nitwit facebook page and wrote all this, can anyone do anything to me? Not hardly. In my opinion, Klimm is a joke as are the councillors. The bottom line is that people can express their opinions as long as they do not attack people's character and keep their comments limited to the politician's performance. Remember, the councillors are eleceted by us and Klimm is APPOINTED by them on BEHALF of WE THE PEOPLE. ANYONE is entitled to cast one's opinion, good or bad on Klimm's performance.
Come Thursday night Klimm will have a lot of very high paid people there pitching for him. As for anyone going to say anything negative about him, there might be one or two. Most people in town don't have the ########### to go and say anything bad, mainly because people fear retribution from them. I never have and never will, and I WILL be there and I have every intention of letting them all know how I feel and why!
I also have something else coming soon that I am not at liberty to divulge now but this does involve Klimm. He might have his supporters but I can assure you many people in this town cannot stand him. I know this firsthand since I collected some 4000 signatures to try to change the charter which Klimm had shot down with his cronies Richard Clark, Bob Jones, Sheila Geiler, Sue Rohrbach, Lucien Poyant and others.
You see my friend, this is all about POWER and EGO. Klimm has a huge ego and he has power as well but as for me, I think he has run our town nearly into the ground. He can like it or not but I think he is a horrid manager. I am entitled to my opinion, as is everyone in this town. Klimm's Attorney is merely bullying people by launching his idle threats which is BS as far as I am concerned. J Albert Johnson is NOT GOD despite what HE and KLIMM think!
Good day to all.
Typical lack of thinking on the town council's part to move this meeting to the high school on this particular night. The Barnstable Summer Theater is putting on a peformance of The Reluctant Dragon in the performing arts center this Thursday night. This show is expected to draw a very large crowd as it the final production from BHS Drama Director John Sullivan who is retiring. So if you are planning on attending the council meeting you should plan on arriving very early to get a parking space before the theater audience arrives. The performing arts center at BHS holds 1700 and the audience for Thursday night is expected to be SRO
FYI
Thanks for the heads up and you are accurate. Yes, is this not typical on their part? You know what is so interesting? I am quite sick of hearing from many of Klimm's cronies and PHONIES about what the reason is for the council not wanting Klimm to continue running this town! It is a FACT of life that CHANGES occur. Major League professional teams change managers ALL THE TIME. PEOPLE IN LIFE CHANGE OUR CANDIDATES ALL THE TIME! Klimm's problem is that his ego is so big he CANNOT face the FACT that MANY PEOPLE DO NOT LIKE OR RESPECT HIM! Big deal. As for all his HACKS who want the NEED to know, if I were a councillor I would just say that my CONSTITUENTS have called me and said his performance is lacking and they want CHANGE! Get it Klimm?!
Have you all watched that idiot Superintendant over in Sandwich doing about the SAME as Klimm? Or chouls I say that HE is doing the same as her? As far as I am concerned, THEY ARE BOTH LOSERS! GET IT. FACE IT and DEAL WITH IT! People have LOST CONFIDENCE IN THEIR ABILITIES!
As for Klimm, in my opinion, hs is MOST responsible for WASTING MILLIONS of taxpayer dollars on golf courses, a marina, a LOSER airfield in Marstons Mills that NOT ONE BARNSTABLE resident can use, and the ist goes on and on and on. They also took OFF THE TAX ROLLS the old Chilli's Bldg that USED to bring in tax REVENUE. What is that now? Tall weeds. BRIGHT MOVE KLIMM!
The old Gulf gas station at the end of Main Street. Klimm and co GROSSLY WASTED about three quarters of a MILLION for that which USED to be a GAS STATION that brought in MORE TAX REVENUE. Today? It is Klimm's park of grand plants and flowers. Want to get sick? Go ask Klimm to give you that ANNUAL COST TO HAVE WHITTEN LANDSCAPE TAKE CARE OF THAT GARDEN! More LOST MONEY!
And don't forget about that old Suni Sands Motel on Craigville Beach Road. USED TO BE A SMALL HOTEL that PEOPLE COULD VISIT AND SPEND THEIR MONEY TO LOCAL BUSINESSES. It also USED TO BRING IN GOOD NEEDED TAX $$$$$$$$$$ revenue and even provided JOBS for people like the OLD CHILLI's building that is GONE NOW!
You see friends, these are only a small few things that this LOSER KLIMM has cost us all.
And he calls himself a good manager?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sure, right!
So as for 'planning', this entire council AND KLIMM have never had a clue about much at all in my opinion, and this is SHARED by MANY people in this town. IF KLIMM EVER HAD TO RUN AGAINST ANYONE AND BE ELECTED, he would LOSE in a landslide to anyone, including Donald Duck!
John,
Are you aware the at the incoming school superintendent in Barnstable has a 3 year contract worth more the 500k! The contract includes a salary of $180,000 in the first year, $185,000 in the second year and $190,000 in the third!! The incoming superintendent is leaving the same position in another town to come to Barnstable. She had a salary of $130,000 in the town she is leaving and will start in Barnstable making $50,000 more for the same job she was doing for $130,000!!
Notice how many times team crocker says this all started five years ago, but fail to mention it was Joakim who turned council discussion into a blood sport when she became president?
Didn't Crocker save Joakim from recall, twice?
Farnham "threw the gauntlet" at joakim, asking her to step down from president spot, but nothing came of it. At least Munafo had some muscle behind his mouth.
Cahoon wants open and fair government, but you can't come to his meeting unless he says so.
jimmycompany keeps talking "term limits". How long has Tom Geiler had his jobs? How long was Bob Smith town lawyer? How long have half the town's employees been around?
Answer: a long, long time.
Saying Klimm, an employee, should be subject to term limits, is revising his job description without going through all that silly charter change business.
I hope they all sue each other and spend billions in court fending off all this stupidity, which could have been prevented with a simple investigation into Donald Grissom's resignation.
Pathetic idiots. All of them.

Crocker only saved Joakim from being recalled once in 2008, the 2007 recall attempt never really got off the ground so to speak.
Farnham asked Joakim to step down in the wake of the ZBA resignations which were a response to Klimm send the proposed Blanchard's Liquor store plan to the Cape Cod Commission.
Very good comments from all of you.... Your name required ended the comments with "pathetic idiots. All of them.
HOW TRUE THIS IS!
Look, come this Thursday night watch and see what happens. We all know that Klimm will have his two busloads dropped off at the high school to go and tout his great accomplishments. BS!
As for Raplh Cahoon, this guy is nothing but a big HACK townie MORON and clown. Someone said his wife is one of three or four assistants to the Barnstable School Superintendant. CAN ANYOE VERIFY THIS? Please post this here if this is true. I could use this info.
But if anyone has hit the nail on the head, it is Gary Lopez and here is why. Gary posted in his post today that if Klimm even gets 60 town clowns on Thursday night to go and tout his highneses greatness, then IG SH#####! BIG DEAL. ONE PERCENT OF THIS TOWN's POPULATION is 460 RESIDENTS so big crap if Klimm has 50 or 60 idiots show up to speak FOR his ass. I can promise you all his: I will be there and I intend to ask all these asses a question or two
OPEN GOV'T???! TALK ABOUT A JOKE! These supposed groups sprouting up in this town NOW AFTER ALL THIS TIME ARE ALSO A BIG JOKE!
Gary Lopez and a few others in town have been begging for an OPEN HONEST GOV'T now for the past 8 PLUS years and we have gotten nothing but LIES, CHEATING, THIEVERY, MISMANAGEMENT OF OUR MONEY, CORRUPTION, HACKARAMA, INCOMPETENCE and the GOOD OLE BOY NETWORK ALIVE AND WELL.
I have some news coming in the next 60 days that might change and fix this SH$$$$$$ once and for all. Stay tuned.
Keep up your good work, everyone, and thank you.
Once again, CAN ANYONE VERIFY IF RALPH CAHOON's WIFE WORKS FOR THE TOWN OF BARNSTABLE SCHOOL SUPER's office?
Thanks

Deb Krau and None of the above are closing in on Munafo in our Precinct 3 poll (top right). There are only a few more days left to vote. Let us know your preference for representation in the 3rd Precinct.
Well...it looks like I can't buy a vote for my little poll today ;)
Here is yet another story from the Klimm-boob POV:
Complaint #4: Councilors Are Meeting Privately, Ms. Joakim Says
http://capenews.net/communities/barnstable/news/1192
I'm certain that Klimm would not want Joakim filing such transparent/weak/retaliatory complaints to the AG. She's an embarassment to him and the town. Even the cherry goat criticized her for doing it. the c-goat screwed up when he dragged his bag across crocker & co's faces after they asked for an investigation. Like joakim, freddy thought he could rule with an iron fist and everyone would have to suck it up. If you look at the video of that night, you'll see the goat playing semantic games and being a prick in general about the subject of Grissom and an investigation. Klimm is right - he got pulled into the fight and he was slaughtered as payback. The question now is, if Klimm loves this town so much, why would he even consider taking $250K from the taxpayers to walk away from a "toxic environment"? Why not stand and fight? Isn't Barnstable worth the fight?
Don't forget there is more then $250,000 involved in this mess. The $250,000 is just what Klimm will receive and then a new town manager has to be hired with his or her own salary. Given the contract that was negoiated for the new school super ($500,000), the new town manger's contract should be on he same level if not a little bigger since the town as whole is a larger entity then the school department.
As for Donald Grissom he was offered a new contract by the council and advised by Jimmy Crocker not to sign it. Crocker reportedly told Grissom he could get him a better deal then what the council was offering. Apparently Crocker failed to deliver and Grissom felt betrayed and chose to leave completely. Leaving or resiging was always an option available to Donald Grissom. If remember Crocker filed his first open meeting law complaint against Fred Chirigotis over an executive session that was held on 2/17/11. It was in that executive session that a final contract was proposed for Donald Grissom. Jimmy Crocker did not attend the council meeting or the executive session that night which is why his first complaint was rejected by the council.
On 2/18/11 Fred Chirigotis met face to face with Donald to tell him the contract discussed in executive session the night before was as good as Donald could expect. No one can blame Donald Grissom for his outburst that day, as he was faced with fact that Jimmy Crocker had not delivered as promissed. Jimmy Crocker had also promised Donald Grissom a job if Jimmy had won the state senate election. Jimmy's loss meant no job for Donald and then he failed to deliver on a better town contract for Donald.
Jimmy filed the complaints against Fred as a way of keeping the truth about what Jimmy was doing behind the scenes secret. It was a pretty good plan; focus a hot spotlight on Fred so he would be able to keep his shannigans going behind the scenes. In football this is what is known as a misdirection play. Jimmy Crocker's only mistake was trying to involve Rick Barry in the game as Rick Barry is too straight of an arrow to play a game like Crocker's
crocker was out of town when the deal went south. He was pissed when he returned to discover DG had been bullied into resigning. Grissom's e-mail to chirigotis contradicts the hogwash you're spilling here.
further, we shouldn't have to be speculating about any of this. That's the real problem here. We are the taxpayers. We have a right to know who's zooming whom in OUR town hall!
I think more than a few folks forgot whose Town Hall it really is.
None of what I wrote is either hogwash or speculation. Donald was never bullied into resigning, yes he wrote an angry email to Fred Chririgotis. However his official letter of resignation which was not the infamous email, was quite polite and gracious in it's tone. The email which was sent to Fred Chirigotis and other councilors (Munafo, Crocker,, Milne, etc) when Donald was upset because he felt Crocker had failed him for the second time. There were in fact some angry words exchanged between Grissom and Chririgotis on 2/18/11. Donald was angry because he felt betrayed by Jimmy Crocker twice over. The problems with Jimmy Crocker have going on for over a year now dating back the Craigville DCPC discussion last Spring.
In case you have forgotten Fred Chirigotis had to recuse himself from the council discussions on the DCPC last Spring. The recusal was engineered By Jimmy Crocker when he recommend that a Craigville resident retain the law firm the employs Fred Chirigotis's wife. This created a conflict of interest for Fred who could not cast the 9th vote in favor of the DCPC. I should also point out that Jimmy Crocker was council vice president at the time of the DCPC discussion. Fred Chirigotis was council president at the time and when Jimmy Crocker's engineering of the DCPC came to light he lost support of a majority of the council.
Jimmy further alienated his fellow councilors when he insisted that he be elected council president in December 2010. Although he had a total of six votes in the election to be president, two of those councilors supported the DCPC. So one is left to wonder how Crocker picked up those two votes.
My understand is that it was "customary" to allow the VP to move to the Presidency after two years. When this protocol was ignored, all hell broke loose. Chirigotis owns some of the responsibility for this fiasco. He failed an important leadership test. He failed to step aside at an appropriate moment.

The problem was that Crocker did not have support of a majority of the council in the wake of what he did to Fred during he DCPC. When Jimmy was elected VP in 2009 for 2010 he defeated Jan Barton 8-4 for the VP position. (Greg Milne was absent that night). Based on the 2009 vote one would expect as you say Crocker to be elevated to the Presidents position. However the numbers don't lie the the vote in December 2010 was 7-6 in favor of Jan Barton for VP. This means Jimmy Crocker lost three votes while picking up Milne's vote since Milne did note vote in 2009.
You can't blame Crocker's losing 3 votes from the 2009 vote on Fred Chririgotis. Clearly Jimmy Crocker's luster was tarnished over the DCPC and Fred's recusal
Klimm has every intention of fighting to keep jis job and stay here. For openers, the guy is the biggest HACK around these parts. What else will he do? Someone said he was offered a 'teaching' job/ TEACHING WHAT? To WHO? John Klimm is the biggest HACK in this entire region. What in God's name is he going to teach? The guy is clueless, but he IS a GREAT PLOITICIAN. Problem is that we need a GOOD COMPETENT QUALIFIED MONEY MANAGER, which he is far from!
Proof of all this is his EGO tha is bigger than the CC MALL! Klimm hired Lawyer J Albert Johnson to keep his job, and to satisfy his EGO! I even heard the radio this pm touting this crap about the town meeting this week. it is pisspoor on the radio's part WXTK, to be touting to show up FOR Klimm on Thursday night. it is a joke, like he is!
And like I said yesterday, big deal. SO WHAT if EVEN 100 MORON HACKS of Klimm's parade into the high school Thursday night to go to bat for this clown! ONE PERCENT of our town is 460 residents. Even if Klimm has 100 people show up, this is less than ONE HALF PERCENT of the RESIDENTS in this town! So big CARP if 100 HACKS show up.
Look at the MORON LOSER RALPH LEADER CAHOON leading the pack. This clown is another LIFETIME HACK. if I am correct, he is now RETIRED on a TOWN PENSION from the police Dep't. Ralph's WIFE IS I AM TOLD ONE OF FOUR ASSISTANTS TO THE SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT! Talk about HACKARAMA!
So you see folks, anyone with even HALF a BRAIN will know that the DOG & PONY show Thursday night will mean SQUAT but wait and see HOW THE PRESS AND THE RADIO TURN THIS INTO THE TOWN BACKING KLIMM 100%
The PRESS here is a joke as are many of the radio stations, and especially the Patriot and CCTIMES. Klimm is their hero.
Wait till they see what we have in store for the PROOF AND EVIDENCE DEPARTMENT on this bag of corrupt village idiots! In time someone might even wind up in jail. Hey laugh. Sal Dimasi laughed too and he did a lot less than some of these asswipes! Good luck to them all. I hope they all need lawyers. These people are a bunch of morons and LOSERS!
If you want a published account if the DCPC issue consult the Barnstable Patriot archive. As for the matters pertaining to Donald Grissom the information concerning Crocker's involvement in that matter are well known and the local press has the facts but refuses to publish. Anyone who as asked about the letter of resignation has been told that it was both gracious and curtious in it's tone.
You're starting to sound an awful lot like Janet Joakim. smoke, mirrors, distraction, gossip, and most telling, a one sided account of a two sided story.
We will have to agree to disagree about this, have a nice evening
I wonder who is paying John Klimm`s high price attorney, is it he or the taxpayers of Barnstable?
Ralph Cahoon should not have voted to hire any school superintendent, if his wife works in that same office!
Here's a plea for open government from Barnstable Coalition for Fair Government:
Finally, some residents in Barnstable are starting to get it. They call themselves the Barnstable Coalition for Fair Government, and their aim is to shine a light on how and by whom important decisions are made.
Residents in other towns should follow their lead, because when it comes to local government (and the same is true of newspapers, by the way), the squeaky wheel gets the oil.
