It seems rather silly to me that our illustrious Town Council is meeting today to continue their Klimm-fest when they should be considering plans to batten down the hatches, cut taxes and spending, and focus services to provide for those most in need.
Not in Barnstable. Here, we live in our own world protected by our bridges, or so we think.
In case you missed it, our good friends in Washington can't agree on much of anything, the markets are in a topsy turvy mood, and the ascent of money has taken on a decidedly new trajectory.
Considering the town's revenue sources, the spending priorities of the Klimm administration, and remarkable jerry-rigging coming out of our Finance Department, I often wonder how well prepared we are to weather a prolonged economic down-turn.
What if...
The FAA doesn't re-open. Or, Cape Air looses some or all of the $20 million a year in subsidies it receives to operate.
What if...
Federal discretionary spending is cut to the bone over the next five years. And, promises made aren't kept.
What if...
The State's coffers run low, again.
What if...
There is no more juice.

I'd like to thank Hank Farnham for standing up to special interests and recovering $150,000 that the water company has already spent to improve a favorite son's commercial property. Norman and Crocker wanted to give that money away.
The rest of that crew from Joakim to Tinsley is worthless. Royden Richardson spent the evening sitting in the front row trying to remind voters why they should vote for his inexperienced nephew as councilor for a village that he cares nothing about.

I watched the town meeting last night, and Iwas disgusted that the town managers lawyer sat in the audience and prevented the town council to speak the truth about the manager.
The town councililor`s are being bullied by this attorney. I have had little respect the town manager, and now I have no respect for him at all.
The 6 councilors should stand their ground, and legal choice they made. As far as the town investigating the manager on the water company purchase, you would be better off seeking other venues of law enforcement officals to investigate the water company purchase.

Attorney John Davis was hired by Ruth Weil not John Klimm or the council. Ruth has funds within her budget to hire outside council when SHE feels it is warrented to do so. She did the same thing when Greg Milne sued for his charter commission seat and that cost the taxpayers $9000!!
In hiring outside council Ruth does not need approval from either the manager or the coouncil.

I just got off the phone with a bunch of folks - including several supporters of the BCFG (aka the Committee to Glorify Klimm). These are not nitwits as suggested by some of the commentators on this blog and I have a prediction to make regarding the November elections.
My crystal dog bowl tells me that Jimmy Crocker losses in November.
Crocker is going to lose because he shot himself in the foot by taking Klimm for the infamous "ride". The coalition doesn't need to put much effort into the O-ville race. Crocker's already gone. The kid from the hardware store is going to kick his ass.
It's a done deal.
The BCGK is also going after Munafo. They think the spawn of Centerville, Ryan Richardson, can best Munafo. They are in for a big surprise.
I think the same goes for Farnum and Canedy too they are more then like gone as well. As for Crocker his march to defeat began a year ago with his now infamous backstab to Fred Chirigotis over the Craigville DCPC. There's not enough (20%) support for a Norman recall. Farnham could be in trouble, but he has a pretty strong base. Canedy & Munafo will have no trouble keeping their seats. People will vote for themselves, not for John Klimm, no matter how much they like the guy. Canedy & Munafo have done too much for their villages to be tossed aside for unknowns.
Crocker should just resign. He can't beat his bully image, no matter how many white suits he wears!

I wouldn't count on the press to "reveal" anything about this mess. This matter will be decided at the polls and those candidates who have little or nothing to contribute won't be elected. It is really that simple. Contrary to popular belief the voters in Barnstable know their own best interests.
