Tom, Dick and Mary

I've tried for several weeks to get one of those FAIR government types to speak to us about their fancy new political action committee.

I couldn't get Tom or Mary to speak on the record. The best I could do was Dick, who had this to say:
The slate of candidates are the strongest we have seen in 10 years. So go ahead and underestimate them. You think the grandson of Roy Richardson and the nephew of the sitting Council President is going to be a weak candidate? You couldn't be that dumb. Either Jen Cullum or Bob Jones will win. Jessica Grasetti is a shoe in in Cotuit. That leaves June Daley and Peter Leveroni on the northside. You think they are lightweights? Think again. Hank Farnham is an old and bitter man. Ann Canedy has always been a weak sister, When they followed Crocker off the cliff, their fate was sealed. So the candidate field is unimpressive is it?
And, again..
I live in Barnstable Village and am supporting Leveroni because he is a good guy and will be a good Councilor. It seems like you're living in the past.
Just so you know, I've petitioned the Town Manager to be buried alive in the time capsule in Town Hall. That ought to solve at least one of Klimm's problems.

I do think that some of the so-called FAIR candidates are weak and I wouldn't support them over the incumbents.

I don't think Hank Farnham is a bitter old man. I think he can be rather single minded, but I've been impressed with how he has conducted himself recently. His experience has allowed him handled a difficult situation rather well. I don't know that Mike's wife brings all that much of anything to the table. I saw her gathering signatures at the Klimm-fest and she wasn't at all impressive. If she's not prepared to knock on every door in West Barnstable, she'll never touch Farnham. He's too connected.

Ann Canedy is not Hank's weak sister. I think Ann Canedy is BEST qualified to replace Fred Chirigotis as President of the Town Council. Yes, she's acted like a village idiot, but that is her job. At the very least, she's capable of more responsibility. She's proven that to me. Leveroni has never once set foot in Town Hall. I don't know where he stands on the issues - any issue. I can't even find a picture of him online. He won't knock on doors. He's too important in his own mind.

I don't care much for Crocker. I think he is vulnerable and I wouldn't shed a tear, if he lost. I don't know why he got into a death match with Chirigotis over the Centerville DCPC, but I do agree that it was a very dumb idea to turn over responsibility for town zoning to the CCC. Who in their right mind would do this?

That would be Royden Richardson.

Speaking of whom, I DO think that the grandson of Roy Richardson and the nephew of the sitting Council President will be a weak candidate - especially in Hyannis - where we don't take kindly to the pretenses of our neighbors from Centerville.

The Richardson predilection toward inflicting all manner of harm on Hyannis - from unaffordable sewer expansions to dysfunctional housing programs - won't play well in our neighborhoods.

There is nothing FAIR (or, fresh) about the Richardson's ambitions for Hyannis.

Tom, Dick, and Mary had best re-think their grand ambitions. They need to speak to the voters and offer an agenda we can support. I have not seen one as yet. Not from this crew.

There is talk the BCFG plans to hold a so-called "candidates night" at some point. At one point this sham was even supposed to replace an equivalent conventional civic forum. Why would any of the targeted six be foolish enough to participate in this kangaroo lynching party? That's the beauty of hiding behind a cynical label like " Coalition for Fair Government." The majority of passive and uninformed voters take the label at face value. When any of the targeted six wisely decline to attend, the BCFG will paint them as no-shows in contempt of their constituents. The absolute cynicism of this so-called coalition is sickening even by Barnstable's depraved standards.

The clip is from the March 17, 2011 town council meeting, Munafo starts reading the email around the 3:00 mark or so.

I am not trying to make chopped liver of Munafo, that's his job and he as done a good job of over the last 5 months.

Thismay surprise you, but there are folks in Hyanniswho think he isdoing a very good job for our Precinct and the Town.

Look, Klimm lost support ofthe business community and this is why is is having so much trouble. Jones isn't going to help him. And, the remaining five of six are now solidly against him. Your only hopes are Cote and Tinsley. You need both of these elections. I'm not sure you'll get them.

Unfortunately Munafo cannont escape the vote on the amendment to John Klimm's contract, it is a political anvil around his neck. If he is as smart as you now claim he his he should have seen Crocker'a plan against Klimm for what Tom Rugo called it "A Poison Pill". In this case the pill is the size of a hockey puck

Bugsy said...

Nice try. No one has any idea what you are talking about and no one cares.

Pretty interesting. So Munafo began to read that email of what he construed Grissom's letter of resignation. What we need is that email, and i wonder who else got that email...It sounds like it is real and if you watch, Chirigotis, Barton and Rugo all want no part of Munafo reading the email. Maybe the truth will be flushed out by the Attorney general. I called there today and they got our complaint yesterday at 2 pm. I suspect they were reading thru it all today and I asked for a quick response. With any luck, by mid next week we may get something. It will be great if they find the council guilty and issue some sort of sanctions...in the meantime, we will work on getting that email from Munafo... the truth will come out sooner than later

Here's Jan Barton's take on this open meeting fiasco:

I guess if there’s one good thing that has come out of the last six months of this council season, it’s that more people are taking an interest in their government, and mostly in a positive way. Although we are still not sure of the cost to the town (if you want to see why some of us think it’s important to hold on to a town manager that has managed us to a AAA bond rating, just turn on the national news), I am relentlessly optimistic that Barnstable will weather this storm end emerge stronger. And although not very eloquent at the last meeting, I meant what I said – I would rather take the trip to Boston and answer the Attorney General’s questions about any alleged misdeeds on my part, and accept any consequences from that office, than to take part in any more discussion at the council level.

John,

You can see the email at the following link:

http://barnstablesewers.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/grissom-email.jpg?w=500&h=344

If you look closely at the email you can see that it was sent to Fred Chirigotis's personal email account. So my first question is how did a copy end up in Jim Munafo's hand?

mathematics said...

Some Munafo opponents are hoping to eliminate him in the September primary. Consider that any pro-Munafo voter has one simple option: vote for Munafo. Any anti-Munafo voter has to choose between Hersey and Richardson, thus splitting the vote. In order for Hersey and Richardson to come in one-two there would have to at least twice as many anti-Munafo votes as pro-Munafo votes. Whatever Munafo's negatives, as incumbent he should retain at least a healthy base. It seems like Munafo should at least come in second unless something astounding happens. It definitely behooves him to get out all of his votes, however.

Munafo is ten times better than hersey and as for the little punk Richardson, GOD help us all if this era or Richardson continues on. It reminds me of the Kennedy era. When Ted dies, let's all hope that chapter is closed for good. As for Richardson, let's hope they don't pull off their magic to get this tiny punk in, whever the hell he is! Roy Richardson is a LIFETIME HACK and now Chirigotis is becoming one too, and don't forget, FATHER FRED MAKES THE RULES HERE! He said so!

Joakim, the coalition, et. al are acting like a pack of hyenas, and I don't see how they can sustain one lie against six councilors for the next 12 weeks that would have much impact on anything.  Besides, if the AG acts in a timely fashion, it's quite possible the "goat 7" will be found guilty of OML violations.

You really have a low opinion of the voters if you think they are going to suck forever on this idea that incumbents fired Klimm.  Don't you think the incumbents will be able to get that truth delivered long before November?  Voters care about themselves.  Munafo returns phone calls/emails for residents across town, as well as in his precinct.  So does Farnham, Canedy, and Norman. To be truthful, so does Crocker, but he's just as likely to hurt you as help you.  Farnham, Crocker & Tinsley will have to fight hard to keep their seats. The rest will be re-elected on their records of helping their people/villages.

Roy Richardson and J. Albert Johnson are not the swinging dicks they used to be.
Seems to me the worm will turn, and soon!

This e-mail should have been made part of the record, but the clerk doesn't have it.
How did that blogger get it?

Munafo may not survive the primary said...

That's another good question regarding how the blogger obtained what appears to be a photo of the actual email. Also the date on the email is odd as well it was sent to Fred Chirigotis on the afternoon of March 13, 2011 and references two other dates February 18, 2011 and March 9, 2011.

If you look at the email address it was sent from it is not a town hall email address but appears to be the personal email address of Donald Grissom. Clearly there are a few things off with this matter

ynr said...

Unlike some, "that blogger" hasn't alienated everyone in town hall, like "that other blogger" has.  The e-mail is public record, and if Linda doesn't have it, shame on her!

Obviously the image is scanned, and there's no mountain you can make of this non-mole hill.  What's "off" about this matter, is that it wasn't investigated.  Grissom obviously resigned under pressure, and my guess is that glowing letter of resignation was written by a town lawyer and signed under duress.  It's furter speculated that grissom signed a confidentiality agreement, and had sucker's remorse when it all sunk in, after Chirigotis harassed and bullied him.

Something similar happened to Jimmy Walsh when he tried to recall Janet Joakim, but that time the bully was Jim Crocker.  Remember that sickening letter of apology Walsh wrote?  Try asking him about it even to this day and he'll piss his pants.  If this "coalition" group gets their way, Barnstable residents better get used to bending over for the good old boys.

Munafo may not survive the primary said...

The email did not become public record until Jim Munafo read it into the record on 3/17/11. It was not sent by Donald Grissom to a town hall email address but to Fred Chirigotis's personal email address. The only person who had a copy of the email at the 3/17/11 meeting was Jim Munafo even Jan Barton said out loud that she had not seen the email. My point about something being "off" was how did a copy of the email get to Jim Munafo's hand for him read aloud on March 17, 2011?

The only email box accessable by all town councilors is the official town council email which is council@town.barnstable.ma.us. There is an official email contact list for the town council on the town website with official email addresses for all members of the counci. The address that Donald Grissom sent the email to is not on the list for the public to use to contact Fred Chirigotis.  Clearly Donald Grissom did not attend the email for public consumption which makes Munafo's having and reading of the email highly suspect.

ynr said...

Your arguments are highly suspect.  Ever heard of a bcc, dumbass?

Bugsy said...

Read the email. It is not a letter of resignation. Grissom is writing in sick. He may never have returned from sick leave, but the email in question is NOT a resignation letter. It is a cry for help or more likely a white flag of surrender.

In my opinion, this whole sorted affair started when Chirigotis bullied his way into a third term by a 7-6 v0te. That same 7-6 split has colored all council decisions since November. Blaming Munafo for speaking out on behalf of a friend and co-worker misses the point.

ynr said...

Wrong.  Grissom ran his mouth in the wrong place at the wrong time, and paid a large price for his foolishness.  Crocker lost his frontline soldier, and retaliated by trying to take Klimm down.  This stuff was intensely personal.  The DCPC stuff was just business.  Big difference.

Munafo may not survive the primary said...

When the council vice president (Crocker) stabs the council president (Chirigotis) in the back as he did over the DCPC, it is not just business, it knocked over the first domino.  Crocker then sought council support for his state senate bid which was not extended to him, this was the second domino to fall. When Crocker then INSISTED on being made council president it was consider a highly arrogant move which back fired knocking down the next domino.

Two weeks after the election of council officers, Crocker walks into Klimm's office and tells Klimm that he is taking Fred off the council. He further states that John Klimm will be collateral damage in the effort to remove Fred. This knocked over two more dominos and increased the rate of the domino's speed slightly. Two weeks after the office visit Jimmy Crocker asked John Klimm to go for a ride to tell him that there were six votes lined up to fire him as town manager. This was another domino and another increase in the domino's speed.

Both of Crocker's meetings with John Klimm were reported to Fred and from there to other councilors.  The departure of Donald Grissom nearly de-railed Crocker's plan to remove Fred Chirigotis and John Klimm. You remember when Munafo called for John Klimm to resign and Fred Chirigotis to step down has council president, he was going rogue on Jimmy Crocker which is why no one seconded Munafo's request.

Crocker was after John Klimm and Fred Chirigotis before Donald Grissom resigned. This was confirmed on 7/14/11 when John Klimm made his speech at that night's council meeting, He said plainly that he had been dealing with threats against his employment for six months. Which means he had been dealing with the threats since January 2011 and Donald Grissom did not resign until late February.

Bugsy said...

Chirigotis should never have gone for a third term. He should have given the position to Canady and stepped aside in minimize conflict. None of us are well served by any of the characters in this drama.

John Julius said...

This morning Bugsy wrote that Chirigotis should have handed the president torch over to Ann Canedy, and my friend, in that context you are correct. But let us not forget that the main purpose of these blogs is to expose the incompetence of all of this now for how long? While your statement is true, this would only have been yet another bandaid or let us say, more lipstick on the pigs...

Call it for what is has been and is. INCOMPETENCE in the 13 councilors running our town, along with an APPOINTED HACK from 11 years ago. AND HOW MANY YEARS did these foolish councilors go without have a so called 'managerial REVIEW?!

Just look at the debt. LOOK AT THE MANY HACKS that Klimm is responsible for hiring.

In many ways, Klimm and this council is just like this country's so called President and his hacks in Congress and the Senate. These so called 'leaders' have not a clue how to lead anything, other than LEADING US ALL DOWN THE PATH TO BANKRUPTCY.

Call it for what it is, and do not lose sight of the purpose of exposing all the truths that we can.

MAYBE, just maybe, one day the voters everywhere might. I said, MIGHT, wake up and toss them all the hell out. In the case of this town, due to this moronic form of government, with these bumbling supposed 'councilors' APPOINTING the MANAGER, things here may never change. Klimm is just another hack who thinks he is GOD...

If someone really wants to make real change, then go and collect another 7000 signatures on a petition that would state that persons ONLY WHO SUPPOERT AN ELECTED MAYOR NEED SIGN. That way the HACKS like Roy RIchardson, Sue Rohrbach, Sheila Geiler, Bob Jones, Richard Clark and others would be exposed if they ran. NOT ONE of those hacks would allow even a DISCUSSION of this town going to an ELECTED MAYOR!

So if anyone is serious and wants th FIX this bag or corruption, go and do that!

There is little doubt in my mind that you could get 7000 signatures in record time, despite Klimm's dog and pony show with his 30 hacks who spoke for their hero on July 14th..

Have a good day to all. And keep the faith.

ynr said...

Didn;t it take you guys two years to get all those signatures, John?
Keep in mind that councilors can now run for the charter commission.
Can't you just see Joakim, Chirigotis, Barton, & their ilk on the ballot?

John Julius said...

Ynr...

Yes, I know that councilors can run now but.... don't you think it is time to turn this town around? Do the voters know this? Maybe not yet but sooner or later they might. Look, yes, it took us a long time to get those signatures but remember, for a time, there were only one or two people trying to get those signatures... that is the saddest part.

IF the damn media would help one of these days things might be easier but the media hates anyone who is against all the filth at town hall so we were maybe doomed from the start. Which is why I would have a hard time ever again participating in it. However, if someone else did, I would give them free consulting on HOW to get it all done.

The biggest problem with the whole thing is again, the media. Let's say that you and I went out and got a petition that said, WHOEVER HE OR SHE SHALL BE, WITH THEIR SIGNATURE ON THIS PETITION, THEIR SIGNATURE FAVORS THE ELECTION OF A MAYOR FOR THE TOWN OF BARNSTABLE AND EACH ELECTED CHARTER COMMISSION MEMBER SHALL ADHERE TO THE DESIRES OF EACH SIGNOR HERETO...IF ANY SUCH ELECTED CANDIDATE SHALL DEVIATE FROM HONORING THAT DESIRE, HE OR SHE SHALL RESIGN IMMEDIATELY...

You see good friend, word has it now twice that it was Klimm himself who was able to submarine the whole idea of an elected Mayor. WHY? Because Klimm KNOWS that he COULD NEVER WIN ANY KIND OF AN ELECTION, period! The guy is a born LOSER, despite the town clown getting 300 HACKS to show up at the high school in July and having 30 of them to speak for their GOD!

Actually in that last charter it was the other puke Richard Clark who tossed it all in the toilet. Did anyone see Clark and how he treated myself and a couple others when we asked for any kind of discussion? He was the most rude and arrogant ASS I have ever seen. WHY? I think Clark had HIS OWN SIGHTS ON BECOMING THAT COUNCIL PRESIDENT! Clark was only in that charter run FOR HIMSELF!

So you see good friend, IF there was ever a WAY to have a PETITION signed by ANYONE who ONLY WANTS TO GO TO AN ELECTED MAYOR, this is the ONLY way this putrid form of gov't will change to something else.

In the meantime, the good ole boy network lives on...

Remember, the ONES elected to that charter commission were BOB JONES, CLARK, SHEILA GEILER (whose HUSBAND Tom the moron runs the town's regulatory services dep't) Sue ROHRBACH (O'LEARY's old hack and pal to Klimm) and LUCIEN POYANT ( another lifetime Barnstable HACK whose daughter works for Klimm making HOW MUCH$$!)

You see, it was alla  joke! Mianly because the voters are clueless here and maybe they will always be. And the media will NEVER print a bad thing about their GOD Klimm...

So UNLESS and UNTIL someone here starts a REAL honest group for an OPEN AND HONEST GOV't, things will never change.

As for this supposed group right now saying they are for an open, fair and honest gov't

THESE PEOPLE ARE ALL A BIG JOKE! They are all nothing more than another batch of KLIMM HACKS. they grow like little bunnies.

Good day to everyone..

Massachusetts allows a charter change petition to be circulated among the public. It does not allow a petition that is preemptively crafted to arrive at a particular result such as a mayor form of government. Any such manipulative document would be invalid from the start. It would disenfranchise anti-mayor voters before they could even sign it. Aside from its value as a rough gauge of popular support it would be legally useless.

Bugsy said...

The best option regarding the charter right now is to lay low. Once Clark's charter crashes and burns (for good), we can start again. But, unless or until Clark's failed document is forever discarded in the dust bin of history, there can be no meaningful charter reform in Barnstable.

John Julius said...

Good points. So what all this means then is that as long as the likes of Klimm, Clark, Geiler, Rohrbach, Jones, Poyant and the other cliueless hacks in the town are around, nothing is worth the effort. Bugsy just said it best. Let the asswipe Clark's idiotic dream crash and burn and then if someone else wants to waste their time, then go for it...

I ran into the asswipe Clark a couple weeks at town hall. He asked me to sign his petition. I laughed in his face. The guy is like Klimm in some ways. Mr egotistical is his middle name. When Clark ran, he told people that he was not a Klimm fan and he implied to people that he supported an elected Mayor........ Richard Clark did more to screw the voters in this town than anyone ever did. In my pinion, all this idiot wanted was to become that council president that he dreamed up, and he coaxed Alden, Milne and all the others to fall for his LIES and garbage.

Folks, God only knows that ssome of us tried to fix things here but when you fight a good ole boy network that they have, it is nearly impossible to change things. In MASS, the same thing holds true with the nitwit Governor patrick. Same thing. The state network of union, state and municipal workers and the folks on the freebies and welfare ae in the majority so to fix or change anything in the state is the same as here in HACKSTABLE.....

Like it or not, all of this is true.

Thanks for youe words FYI....I hapen to KNOW beyond any doubt that when we collected those 7,000 or so signatures, MOST of those people who signed did in fact want an elected person (preferably a MAYOR) to run the town. Too bad that Klimm KNEW that and still had the people inplace to protect his ass. Klimm makes me laugh:

He continues to say that even HE, would like to see a Mayor. SURE, RIGHT. Klimm would get his ass handed to him IN ANY ELECTION OF ANY KIND. In my opinion, the guy is a fraud and he knows it. And a lot of other people here feel the same way.

Good day guys, and ladies

I don't think that you can tag Ryan with Roy's history. I know folks try to do this sort of thing because it happened to me. To me, it smacks of cheap political theatrics.

John Julius said...

I happen to agree with the commenter who logged in as "Tell me when it's over...He is right. In any other town the name WOULD be mud but in this town it does not matter. From about the time when the moron John Klimm became the so called leader in this town, integrity and a whole bunch of other things went right out the window. Richardson has been almost a lifetime HACK in town like Klimm and like Tom Lynch, and like Bob Jones, Richard Clark Gary Blazis, Gloria Rudman, Sheila Geiler, Tom Geiler, Lucien Poyant, Sue Rohrbach, Alan Burt, Rick Presbrey, Laura Schufelt and the list goes on and on and on......

Any sense of integrity has been long gone since about 2000 when Klimm came to town-- the new sheriff. Our town gov't has grown and expanded to fill jobs for Klimm and his crony pals. All in a time when the town was not growing but rather LOSING people and losing even properties.

As for Richardson's grandson, it is painfully obvious that this young man has no clue abou very much of anything but here they are, both Richardson and fast Fred Chirigotis trying to cultivate yet another lifetime hack. Good luck to them. If the voters are that stupid, then they will get what they deserve. If people want to keep electing these LIARS, CHEATERS and THIEVES, then go right ahead. If the voter's pocket are deep enough to keep getting ripped blind, then so be it!

In the meantime, call it like it is. I have heard enough stories from very trustworthy people to make my own decisions--- on many things! Until we all get together to make and force change, this will stay a sick town!  Good day to all

Good Luck, Barnstable! said...

It's more than rumor. There are a number of town's folk who remember the incident. I have a law directory showing Royden Richardson's former job at the Probation Department at Barnstable District Court. One of the town's folk is a COGGER. He's a guy who could never get himself elected, but that all changed when the Governor's Council got a piece of him. A candidate who ran against O'Leary remembers it, and I first heard about it from Peter Doiron. Doiron was solid on intel.

Don't expect this comment to last long. I can understand. It's a big machine, and you have to circulate with the rest of the spokes and cogs of the political wheel.

For what it's worth, Fred Chirigotis works less than 1/8th of a mile from my house. His partner James Fagan, of Fagan and Goldrick lost State Representative to a family friend, Shaunna O'Connell R-Taunton. Fagan had a history of making lewd comments toward women. The race was close, and there were two recounts. He had been state rep for as long as anyone can remember. This means you can get rid of Chirigotis. In Taunton, O'Connell makes the rules.
